Siliguri Town Station |
This station is the oldest in Siliguri and has great historical significance. During the rule of British this station was first opened on 23 August, 1880. In that period the station was the major rail station. World’s renowned personalities and leaders like Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Baga Jatin, Chittaranjan Das all traveled through this station on their way to Darjeeling and other places. Today only few passenger trains travel through this station and the condition is pretty bad despite of the several promises to improve its present condition. To prevent the traffic at the adjoining places a flyover has been built near to the station. |

Siliguri Junction |
This station is the second most important rail station after NJP. It was first opened in 1949. It is situated near the Tenzing Norgey Bus Terminus on the Hill Cart Road of Siliguri. People now can travel to Siliguri without having to alight at NJP because of the extension of the broad gauge railway track to the station. It is the only railway station in India with all the three gauge tracks. |
